Doris A. Shadle Doris A. Shadle Doris Arlene Shadle was born October 20, 1927 in Beaver, Iowa. As a baby, she moved with her family to Jefferson. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945, then graduated from nursing training at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. Over the years, Doris worked as a nurse in several medical facilities. She worked in the obstetrics department at the Greene County Hospital. She had various nursing jobs in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She also worked at Mercy Hospital and the VA Hospital in Des Moines, and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois as a surgical nurse. She returned to Jefferson and worked for the Greene County Medical Center before retiring in 1980. Doris was a member of the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. She belonged to the Association of Operating Room Nurses, and the Beta Sigma Phi. Doris Shadle died November 12, 2003 at the Greene County Medical Center. She was 76 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Max Shadle, and a nephew, Kevan Herrick. Survivors include her sister, Susan Herrick of
Jefferson, and an adopted sister, June Cunhs of Jefferson.
