Margaret Beaty, daughter of George and Mattie
Emerick, was born on August 6, 1904 on a farm near Havelock, Iowa.
Margaret graduated from Mallard High School and
attended Iowa State Teachers College for two summers. She taught
country school for three years.
In 1925, Margaret graduated from Minneapolis School
of Beauty Culture and had her own shops in Foley, Minnesota and
Grand Junction, Iowa.
Margaret was married to Homer Beaty in 1933. After
sixteen years as a beautician, Margaret moved to the farm near Grand
Junction in 1941. In 1978, her husband died and she remained on
the farm until October 17, 1983 when she moved to Northcrest Retirement
Community, in Ames, Iowa.
Margaret was active in various clubs. She had
been past president of the Twentieth Century Club, an Iowa Federated
Club. She was a sixty-year member and past matron of the Order of
Eastern Star. Margaret was a fifty-four year member of the United
Methodist Church in Grand Junction, where she was a recipient of
the highest medal of honor for services given to the church.
Margaret Beaty died October 10, 2003 at Northcrest
Retirement Community in Ames, Iowa at the age of 99 years. Preceding
her in death were her parents; her husband, Homer Beaty; her brother,
Charles; and 3 sisters: Mildred, Emma and Jessie.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.

Northcrest Retirement Community in Ames, First United Methodist
Church at Sixth & Kellogg in Ames, or First United Methodist
Church in Grand Junction.
