Millie Neese
Millie Neese, daughter of Henry and Lydia Miller
Snow, was born on August 5, 1926 in Jefferson, Iowa. She attended
country school in Jackson Township and entered Jefferson School
in 1938. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942 and continued
her education at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines,
Iowa. She was employed at Loren and Gray Attorney’s at Law
in Perry, Iowa; Jefferson Telephone Company and the Greene County
Extension Service in Jefferson.
In 1949, Millie was united in marriage to Darwin
Neese of Scranton. They moved to the farm of Guy and Velda Neese
in 1953 where they were engaged in farming until Darwin’s
death in 1985. Millie moved to Jefferson in 1986.
Millie was a member of the Scranton United Methodist
Church and a present member of the Jefferson First United Methodist
Church and United Methodist Women. She was active in Girl Scouts
and served as a 4-H leader. Her favorite pastimes were spending
time with family and friends, reading and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Millie Neese died at her home on October 8, 2003
at the age of 77 years. Preceding her in death were her husband,
Darwin Neese, her parents, one sister and six brothers.
Millie is survived by her daughters, Sandi Whitehill
of Sioux City, Iowa; Carol Brown of Suffield, Connecticut and Marla
Stokesbary of Gowrie, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren
and one sister, Vava Duff of Tigard, Oregon.
