Raymond Joseph Hoyt was born on February 28, 1915 to Joseph David and Bessie Anderson Hoyt on a farm near Scranton, Iowa. Ray graduated from Bagley High School and attended Iowa State College.

He was a member of the Bagley United Methodist Church, Za Ga Zig Shrine, Otley Masonic Lodge, Perry Elks Club, Bagley Lions Club and a past director of the Bagley Telephone Company.

Ray was a licensed taxidermist. He also enjoyed many hobbies: hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, photography, leather tooling, bowling, skeet shooting and beekeeping. The stained glass window in the Bagley office of the Perry State Bank was made by Ray. Ray enjoyed his lake home at Spirit Lake and also enjoyed his many traveling experiences.

Raymond J. Hoyt, 88, died December 16, 2003 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Warren Hoyt.

Survivors include his wife, Ferne Hoyt of Bagley, IA and his three children, 2 sons, Harris (Joe) Hoyt and his wife, Barbara of Branson, MO and Ron Hoyt and his wife, Marilyn, of Bagley, IA and daughter, Vicki Gubser and her husband, Bob, of Panora, IA.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brenda Flack and her husband, Craig of Jefferson, IA; Julie Burkhardt and her husband, Randy, of Yale, IA; Andrea Haynes and Eric Hoyt both of Branson, MO; Teresa McClellan and her husband, Scott, of Bayard, IA; Troy Stanley and his wife, Rhonda of Rapid City, SD; Michelle Laughery and her husband, Dan and Steve Hoyt and his wife Courtney, all of Bagley, IA and 28 great-grandchildren and many friends.
