Funeral services for Alma Averill, 91, of Jefferson, will be
11:00am Tuesday September 28, 2004 at Central Christian Church,
Jefferson. Interment will be at the Jefferson Cemetery.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson
after 11:00am Monday. The family will be present at the funeral
home to greet friends between 7:00 -8:00pm Monday.
Alma P. Averill was born February 10, 1913 in Grundy County,
Missouri. She was the daughter of Ira Dockery and Loretta Arbuckle
Dockery.
Alma married Virgil Averill on February 10, 1935. Alma and Virgil
farmed in the Jefferson area for many years. Alma was a homemaker,
and she drove trucks on the farm. She raised a large garden, and
was a beautiful seamstress. She was a 4-H leader for 12 years.
In 1975, Alma and Virgil moved into Jefferson. They enjoyed wintering
in Texas, and they shared an interest in antiques. Alma was a
faithful member of Central Christian Church.
On September 25, 2004, Alma Averill died at the Jefferson Manor.
She was 91 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents,
her husband Virgil who died July 7, 2000; and a daughter Delores
Hancock.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Mary Krakau and her husband Larry
of Boxholm, IA; and Arlene Stream and her husband Bob of Fort
Collins, CO; a half-sister, Iris Boyle of Jamesport, MO; 2 half-brothers:
Mayland Dockery of San Antonio, TX and Floyd Dockery of Ridgely,
TN; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
