Funeral services for C. Raymond Fisher, 97, of Grand Junction,
will be 10:30am Friday November 19, 2004 at First Presbyterian
Church in Grand Junction, followed by interment at the Junction
Township Cemetery.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Grand Junction
on Thursday from noon to 9:00pm, where the family will be present
to greet friends between 6:00 – 8:00pm Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Greene County Medical Center or
the Grand Junction Presbyterian Church.
C. Raymond Fisher, 97, of Grand Junction, died November 14, 2004
at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. A Celebration
of Life was held 10:30a.m. Friday, November 19th at First Presbyterian
Church in Grand Junction. Interment took place at the Junction
Township Cemetery.
Raymond Fisher was born July 13, 1907 at Grand Junction, Iowa.
He was the son of Carl A. Fisher and Rachel Svendahl Fisher.
Raymond was united in marriage to Eunice Rinker on December
25, 1929 at the Rinker family home south of Beaver, Iowa. They
were the parents of two sons. Eunice was Raymond’s constant
companion and best friend for all of their 68 years of marriage.
Raymond was active in farming his entire life and was a Master
Farmer. He was also very active in many local and state organizations.
Raymond spent 16 years in the Iowa House of Representatives, and
27 years on the Greene County R.E.C. board. He was active in the
Grand Junction Presbyterian Church and was an elder. He was a
member of the Masonic Lodge, the Za Ga Zig Shrine, the Lions Club,
and the Farm Bureau. He also had served as a 4-H leader. Later
in life, Raymond enjoyed playing golf.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice
who died in 1997; and six sisters: Amelia Dobbe, Edith Fisher,
Olive Fisher, Annette Stephenson, Mabel Tucker and Vannie Newman.
Raymond is survived by his two sons: Roger and his wife Sharon
of West Des Moines, and Tom and his wife Marcia of Urbandale;
seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
one sister, Irma Ferguson of Jefferson, other relatives and friends.
