Edna Mae Allie was born January 8, 1908 at Scranton, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Anna Hart Butler. Edna attended school at Scranton. She married Bash Bolsen in Jefferson. The couple lived on an acreage on the edge of Des Moines where they raised horses. Edna liked animals in general, and was especially fond of her cat. Edna lived most of her life in Des Moines. She was the cashier for Younkers Cafeteria and Tea Room in downtown Des Moines for many years. Edna did crocheting and liked gardening. Edna married Bernard Anthony Allie in 1972. About eight years ago, Edna moved to Jefferson. She enjoyed the company of her nieces and nephews. Edna Allie died June 10, 2004 at the Greene County Medical Center. She was 96 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister, Grace Burr, her husband Bash Bolsen, and husband Bernard Anthony Allie; and a nephew Bob Melton. Edna is survived by a niece, Darlene Melton of Jefferson; great-niece, Judy Turner of Jefferson and a great-nephew John Melton of Taylor, Michigan. |
