Edna May Layton Joy, known as “Skip”,
was born August 10, 1918 at Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter
of Benjamin Matthew Layton and Loie Wagoner Layton.
On March 10, 1946, Edna married Claude Allen Joy.
They had one son, Steven.
Edna and her husband lived for many years north
of Grand Junction and farmed, then moved into Grand Junction. Over
the years, she worked as a waitress, and as a postal clerk. She
was a member of the Methodist Church. Edna enjoyed reading.
Edna “Skip” Joy died March 27, 2004
at Long Term Care of the Greene County Medical Center. She was 85
years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
who died in 1978, and 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by
her son, Steven, other relatives, and friends.
