Geraldine M. Riley, 85, of Jefferson, IA.

Died: February 7, 2004
Geraldine Marcelle Riley was born February 23,
1918 in Ferguson, Iowa. She was the daughter of Issac Newton Buckles
and Lois Ann Bellefeuille Buckles.
Geraldine was raised in Perry, Iowa. She attended
school in Perry where she played basketball. Geraldine graduated
with the class of 1934.
On August 24, 1935, Geraldine was married to Roland
Riley at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. The couple lived
in Perry for a short time, then moved to El Cajon, California where
they lived for many years while Roland was serving the United States
Navy.
Geraldine and her husband moved back to Iowa and
lived in Rippey from 1947 until 1960, then moved to Jefferson.
Geraldine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Jefferson. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters and
sang in St. Joseph’s church choir. She worked at the food
pantry, and was a member of the Iowa Law Enforcement Association
Auxiliary. She had been a matron at the jail during the time when
the jail was the sheriff’s residence
In October 2001, Geraldine became a resident of
the Jefferson Manor. There, she died February 7, 2004 at the age
of 85 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband
Roland who died in 1980; a son, Terry Riley who died in 1987; two
brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
Surviving are two daughters: Judy Crabtree of
Redfield, IA and Patricia Riley of Grand Junction, IA; 11 grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
