Gary “Mike” Swaney died of lung cancer August 25, 2004 in El Paso, Texas. Mike was born on August 13, 1938 in Jefferson, Iowa to Alvin “Son” and Beulah Ewing Swaney. Mike graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1956. He continued his education at Iowa State University, from where he graduated with degrees in statistics and industrial management in 1960. He was employed as a systems engineer until he became ill in June 2003. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Son and Beulah Swaney and his youngest brother, Rickey. He is survived by his brothers, Terry (Jackie) of Spokane, Washington, and Jerry (Patricia) of El Paso, Texas; uncles: Valois (Marie) Ewing of Webster City, IA and Keith (Monilee) of Kent, Ohio; as well as one nephew, Aric of Chicago, IL and niece and nephew, Rickey and Sonja of Spokane, WA. A private family graveside committal was held August 30, 2004 in Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa. |
