Funeral services for Hazel Langfitt, 87, of Grand Junction, IA will be 10:30 AM Thursday July 29 at First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. Interment will be at the Junction Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Grand Junction after 11am Wednesday. The family will be present at the funeral home to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday.
Hazel Arlene Langfitt was born August 13, 1916 in Guthrie County, near Yale, Iowa. She was the daughter of Merle Edward Foltz and Amy Quayle Foltz. Hazel attended school in Yale, and later, in Perry, Iowa. She was married to Loyd L. Langfitt on December 26, 1935 at Boone, Iowa. Hazel lived in and around Grand Junction, Iowa all her married life. Her husband died in 1979 and Hazel continued to live in the Grand Junction area. Hazel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. She was a member of the church circle, and held many different offices in the church. Hazel belonged to HH Club, 20th Century Club, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #28, and Garden Club. She had many interests in her life, including gardening, flowers, bowling, and was active at the Grand Junction Community Center. Hazel Langfitt died July 26, 2004 at the Greene County Medical Center. She was 87 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Loyd; 4 sisters: Bertha Fisher, Twylia Annear, June Foltz and Betty Foltz; and 2 brothers: Delbert Foltz and Edward Foltz. Surviving are two sons: Loyd (Keith) Langfitt of Lake City, IA; and Melvin (Mel) Langfitt of Fairfield, Virginia; 1 sister, Elsina Sieck of Perry, IA; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. |
