Funeral services for Hilda Wuebker, 98, of Jefferson, will be
11:00am Wednesday June 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jefferson.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Jefferson.
Visitation will start at 10:00am Tuesday at Slininger-Rossow
Funeral Home, Jefferson. Vigil for the Deceased will be held at
7:00pm Tuesday evening, with family visitation to follow the vigil
service until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
Hildegard Mary Ludwig Wuebker was born July 29, 1905 at Mount
Carmel, Iowa. She was the daughter of Martin F. Ludwig and Catherine
Nepple Ludwig. The family lived on a farm, and Hilda attended
school in Mount Carmel.
On April 20, 1926, Hilda married Bernard (Ben) Wuebker. They
moved to Milford, Iowa, then moved to Jefferson, Iowa in 1937
and established Wuebker Electric Company. Hilda was a homemaker,
and also worked as a clerk for J.C. Penny in Jefferson.
After Ben died in 1978, Hilda moved to Greenewood Homes until
April of 2001 when she became a resident of Long Term Care at
the Greene County Medical Center.
Hilda was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.
She belonged to St. Joseph’s Guild, and Catholic Daughters
of the Americas. She was a charter member of the B.P.O. Does #196
and the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary.
Hilda Wuebker died June 12, 2004 at the Greene County Medical
Center. She was 98 years of age. Preceding her in death were her
parents; her husband, Ben; a son, Melvin; a granddaughter, Christy
Wuebker; 6 sisters: Sister Nora Ludwig, Leone Hannasch, Isabelle
Soat, Hilaria Thelen, Rita Wittrock and Viola Whitver and 1 brother:
Virgil Ludwig.
Survivors include daughter Della Wand and her husband Dr. John
Wand of Eagan, Minnesota; son Dennis Wuebker and his wife, Joan
of Edina, Minnesota; daughter-in-law Mary Wuebker of Jefferson,
IA; one sister: Mardelle Warren of Alexandria, MN; two brothers:
Al Ludwig of Carroll, IA and Don Ludwig of Estherville, IA; 15
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
