Krissie Watts

Krissie Kingsley Watts, 100, of Jefferson, died Tuesday at the
Greene County Medical Center. There are no immediate survivors,
and there are no public services. Interment will be at Forest
Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to a charity
or church of your choice.
Krissie Araminta Kingsley Watts was born March 30, 1904 in Omaha,
Nebraska to Welch and Mabel (Hume) Kingsley.
Krissie graduated from high school in Norfolk, NE and later
from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in
home economics and did graduate study at Iowa State University.
After graduation, she managed a coffee shop for the Roberts Hotel
System, conducted cooking schools for Westinghouse and managed
her father’s hotel in Seward, NE. For many years, she was
a home economist for Iowa Electric, holding cooking schools in
their various divisions.
On August 1, 1934, Krissie was united in marriage to
C. Everett Watts in Seward, NE. The couple came to Jefferson
in 1938 for Everett’s employment and she has since resided
there.
Until her health no longer permitted, Krissie enjoyed traveling
extensively around the country and abroad.
Krissie was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and two honorary
home economic societies. She had been president of the Iowa Federation
of Republican Women from 1949 – 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard,
and her husband who died in 1966. There are no immediate survivors.
