Leroy William Vader was born June 18, 1914 in Jackson Township, Greene County, Iowa. He was the son of Roy and Mary (Harms) Vader.

Bill graduated from Scranton High School, where he was a member of the high school football team.

In 1938, Bill married Helen May Kelling. Bill owned and operated a bowling alley and skating rink in Scranton. He was a member of the Scranton Church of Christ.

He retired at age 65 and moved to Western Grove, Arkansas where he enjoyed fishing and taking long walks with his wife, Helen. Bill was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan.

In the fall of 2000, Bill moved to Omaha, Nebraska. There, he died March 26, 2004 at the age of 89 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife who died in 1998; two sisters: Florence, and Eva Van Norman; and two brothers, Floyd “Spud” Vader and Rex Vader.

Surviving are two daughters: Fran Gee and her husband Royce of Warner Robin, GA, and Lois Vader Williams of Omaha, NE; 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
