Memorial services for Maxine Miller Black, 86, of Jefferson,
Iowa, will be 1:00pm Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Central Christian
Church in Jefferson. Interment is at the Jefferson Cemetery. There
is no visitation.
Maxine Black, daughter of Eugene and Ina Belle Louk, was born
on August 15, 1918, in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived on the family
farm south of Jefferson. In 1939 she married Verle V Miller, also
of Jefferson, Iowa.
After Verle’s military service in Europe during WWII the
couple moved to California. In 1958 Maxine returned to Jefferson
with her two sons, Terry V. and Bruce G., after the death of her
husband, Verle in 1957.
She worked in various retail stores in Jefferson, such as, Super
Valu, Gold Bond, Leone’s, and Anthony’s, while raising
her two sons. She moved to Ames and after a brief time, she returned
to her family and friends in Jefferson. In 1979 she married Russell
E Black of Jefferson.
Maxine died December 24, 2004 at the Greene County Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her
husband Verle Miller in 1957 and husband Russell E Black in 2002.
Survivors include her two sons: Terry (Patricia) Miller of Jefferson,
Iowa and Bruce (Evelyn) Miller of Parsippany, New Jersey; eight
grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is
her brother Keith Louk of Perry, Iowa, two step daughters, Beverly
(David) Chamber of Idaho and Sandy Vickery of Colorado.
