Mary Tiffany

Mary Darlene Goughnour Tiffany, daughter of Frank and Pearl Woods Goughnour, was born on August 31, 1914 in Polk County, Iowa. Mary graduated from White Oak High School at Cambridge, Iowa in 1932. The family lived in the Elkhart, Iowa area until 1933, when they moved to Greene County.

Mary was united in marriage to Tom Tiffany on February 18, 1936 at the St. Brigid Rectory in Grand Junction. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth Thomas and Dennis Francis.

Mary was a homemaker and became a CNA in 1966. She was employed as a CNA until she retired in 1983. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jefferson, Iowa.

Mary Tiffany died December 20, 2004 at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 90 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Tom Tiffany, in 1999, 2 sisters, Myrtle Gliem and Lova Thornburg and one grandson, Michael Scott Tiffany, in 1977.

Survivors include 2 sons, Kenneth Tiffany and his wife, Nancy, Aberdeen, SD and Dennis Tiffany and his wife, Cheryl, of Jefferson, IA; 2 sisters, Laura Ihrig of Coralville, IA and Eleanor Hayward of Moline, IL; one brother, Galen Goughnour of Jefferson, IA. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Scott Tiffany of Jefferson, IA and Angela Staley of Atlantic, IA and 2 great-grandchildren, Chandler and Abigael Staley.

7:00pm Vigil for the Deceased was held Wednesday evening with Father Donald Ries, presiding.
