Funeral
services for Nadyne Wessling, 87, of Jefferson, formerly of Grand
Junction will be 10:30am Saturday May 22, 2004 at the First United
Methodist Church, Grand Junction, Iowa. Interment will be at the
Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction.
Visitation will start at noon on Friday at the
Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Grand Junction. Family will be
present from 6:00-8:00pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
Vera Nadyne Wessling, daughter of William and Bertha
Mae Culley, was born on February 7, 1917 in Rippey, Iowa. She attended
Rippey and Grand Junction schools, graduating from Grand Junction
High School in May 1935. Nadyne was employed by her uncle, Harry
Smith’s dairy farm at Rippey, the Norman Andrews home and
uncle, Allen Hillman’s grocery store.
On January 1, 1938, Nadyne Culley and Douglas Wessling
were united in marriage at the Methodist Church parsonage in Grand
Junction. They became the parents of four children, LeRoy, Roger,
Ivan and Jane. Nadyne and Douglas lived their married life in the
Grand Junction area and moved to their current home in 1968.
Nadyne was a member of the Grand Junction First
United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Ki Ku Club and
a charter member of the El Carim club.
Nadyne Wessling died May 20, 2004 at Jefferson
Manor in Jefferson at the age of 87 years. Preceding her in death
were her parents and three brothers, Darwin, Loren and Gerald Culley.
Survivors include her husband Douglas Wessling
of Grand Junction; one daughter, Jane Higgins and her husband Gary
of Grand Junction; three sons, Roger Wessling and his wife Judy,
of Grand Junction, LeRoy Wessling and his wife, Sandra and Ivan
Wessling and his wife, Marleen, all of Urbandale, IA and one sister,
Verda Eilbert of Grand Junction; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
