Graveside Memorial Services for Ruth Jones, 84, of Osage Beach,
Missouri, former resident of Greene County, Iowa, will be 11:00am
Saturday October 9, 2004 at Junction Twp. Cemetery, Grand Junction.
Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:50am, to be
ready for the 11:00 o'clock service.
Ruth Katherine Springer Jones was born May 4, 1920 at Grand Junction,
Iowa. She was the daughter of Harold Wilson Springer and Lillian
Louise Lorenzen Springer.
Ruth graduated from Dana High School in 1938, and graduated from
Normal Training in 1939. She took college classes in many universities
through out the United States. Ruth taught school for 35 years.
Her teaching career included teaching six years in Greene County
rural schools, 10 years in elementary schools in the southern,
eastern and northern United States, four years of high school
English, nine years of American History in junior high school,
three years in special education and two years of remedial reading.
Ruth was united in marriage to Robert L. Jones on December 31,
1941 at Savannah, Missouri. They were the parents of two children,
Larry and Lynn.
Ruth belonged to Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She had
been a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and attended the Methodist
Church.
Ruth was a wonderful mother and grandmother. On September 23,
2004, Ruth Jones died at Osage Beach, Missouri. She was 84 years
of age. Preceding her in death were her parents, and two brothers:
Clarence “Hap” Springer and Harold Springer.
Survivors include her children: son Larry Robert Jones and his
wife Pat of Lake Ozark, MO; daughter Lynn Diane Strahan and her
husband Glenn of Mt Juliet, Tennessee; a brother John Springer
of Northwood, IA; a sister, Evelyn Hoyt of Perry, IA; four granddaughters:
Polly Jones of Kansas City, MO; Kelli Jones of Platte City, MO;
Leslie Sakalas of Coppell, Texas, and Lori Wesolowski of Riverside,
California; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other
relatives and friends.
