Richard Dean Tuhn

Prayer service for Richard Dean Tuhn, 55, of Grand Junction, Iowa will be 7:00pm Tuesday evening July 13, 2004 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Grand Junction, IA. Interment at a later date.

Richard Dean Tuhn, son of William Richard Tuhn and Phyllis Irene Coil Tuhn, was born on March 24, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa. Richard graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1968. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1968-1972.

After returning home, Richard was employed by the Rippey Co-op and the Grand Junction Elevator. He moved to Arkansas in the early 1980’s where he was employed by Cloyes Gear Company. On October 4, 1987, Richard was united in marriage to Judy Hutchins. In 1990, the couple moved back to Grand Junction, Iowa.

Richard enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Richard Dean Tuhn died of cancer on July 10, 2004 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. He was 55 years of age. Preceding him in death were his father, William Richard Tuhn in 1978 and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Grand Junction, IA; his mother, Phyllis Tuhn, Grand Junction, IA; 3 daughters, Frankie Davis, Paris, AR; Susie Robison, Subiaco, AR; and Dana Ross, Leigh, NE; 2 sons Richard Dean Tuhn, Jr. and Cecil Swanson, both of Grand Junction, IA. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Barbara Tuhn, Jefferson, IA and Phyllis Tuhn, Grand Junction, IA; 4 brothers, Jack Tuhn, Leonard Tuhn and Rick Tuhn, all of Jefferson, IA and Charlie Tuhn, Bouton, IA; and 9 grandchildren.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend as well as a very special papa. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Homeward Hospice, 400 South Dakota Avenue, Ames, Iowa 50014.
