Funeral services for Bob Strabley, 59, of Jefferson will be 10:00AM
Saturday February 12, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.
Interment will be in Wright Cemetery, Greene County, IA.
Visitation will start at 10:00 AM on Friday at
Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. There
will be a Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 PM Friday
evening, with family visitation to follow until
9:00PM at the funeral home.
Robert Thomas Strabley, son of Edward and Anastasia
Waters Strabley, was born on August 16, 1945 in
Waukon, Iowa. He was the fifth of nine children
born to the couple. The family lived in Dorchester,
Iowa. Bob attended school in Waukon.
In 1961, Bob moved to Jefferson, Iowa where
he met Christina Ann Hurley. Bob and Christina
were married on November 23, 1963 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Jefferson. They became the
parents of two children, Shelly Dee and Robert
Thomas II.
Bob worked for Rhodes Plumbing and Oscar Mayer
for 23 years. Other employment included the Jefferson-Scranton
Middle School, the Jefferson Rec Center and Jefferson-Scranton
High School, where he was currently employed.
Bob loved kids and working around them. He enjoyed
being the community Easter Bunny for several years.
Bob loved his four grandchildren, Brittany, Jac,
Jeff and Jon, and his great-grandchild, Bradley,
and enjoyed being a part of their lives. Bob was
an avid racing fan.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Jefferson and St. Brigid Catholic Church in
Grand Junction.
Bob Strabley died February 9, 2005 at the Greene
County Medical Center in Jefferson. He was 59
years of age. Preceding him in death were his
parents, and his brothers, Ed, John, Joe and Tim.
Survivors include his wife, Christina Strabley
of Jefferson; one son, Rob Strabley of Grand Junction
and one daughter, Shelly Scott of Council Bluffs;
one sister, Mary Ann Neal of Jefferson and 3 brothers,
Ralph Strabley of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Mike
Strabley of Caledonia, Minnesota and Richard Strabley
of Lexington, North Carolina. Also surviving are
4 grandchildren, Brittany, Jac, Jeff and Jon and
one great-grandchild, Bradley.
