D.D. was born December 26, 1911 in Grand Junction to Martha and

The old home farm one mile east of Grand Junction sporting the
round barn was his home though out his childhood and where he
raised his children. Dwight graduated from Grand Junction high

with Lawrence Welk playing in the background. They proceeded to
get married in Paton, Iowa in 1933. They lived their entire lives
in Greene County except for a short adventure in Tempe, Arizona
in 1959. Returning to Grand Junction he joined his brother, Leon,
buying and selling pigs. He also was caretaker at the Spring Lake
golf course before he retired.
D.D. was the oldest member of the Grand Junction Methodist Church
where he had been an active member until he and his wife Vava
moved to Jefferson in 1983. He was a warm hearted gentleman who
enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling, reading, and took a very
active role in Methodist Men, Lion’s Club and Farm Bureau.
