Funeral services for Joan Ott will be 10:30am Wednesday October 5, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, with interment at the Jefferson Cemetery.  Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 9:00am Tuesday, where the family will be present to greet friends between 6:30 – 8:30pm Tuesday. 

 

Joan Elizabeth Ott was born in Orange Township, Guthrie County on November 1, 1930.  She was the daughter of Floyd and Erma (Stettler) Stevens.  Joan attended Cooper school and received her GED.

Joan married Estel Delos Ott on February 22, 1948.  They became parents of five children.  Joan worked at Franklin Factory for a short time and also was a cook at the Cooper School.

Joan was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  She was a volunteer helping deliver Meals on Wheels.

Joan loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports.  She enjoyed family dinners, traveling, camping, gardening, and going to garage sales with her special friend, Francis Olson.  Joan especially loved to sew and make drapes.

Joan Elizabeth Ott is now planting flowers with Jesus October 1, 2005.  She was 74 years of age. 

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Estel Ott of Jefferson; two daughters: Sheila Alcorn of and husband Paul of Ava, MO; Pamela Thomsen and her husband Larry of Jefferson, IA; three sons: Gary Ott and his wife Regina of Springfield, MO; David Ott and his wife Peggy of Zearing, IA; Roger Ott and his fiancée Ronda of Jefferson, IA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Webb of Des Moines, IA; two brothers: Donald Stevens of Des Moines, IA, and Paul Stevens of Indianola, IA.
