John Francis Piepel, son of John and Agnes Butler Piepel, was born on March 6, 1923 in Greene County, Iowa. In 1940, he graduated from Jefferson High School and entered into farming with his father. In 1943, John and Betty Walker were united in marriage in Jamaica, Iowa. John and Betty became the parents of five children, Jack, Rebecca, Beverly, Michael and Peggy. John was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson and a Greene County farmer for 60 years. John Francis Piepel died June 1, 2005 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. He was 82 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents, his daughter, Beverly and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Betty Piepel, of Jefferson, IA; 2 daughters, Rebecca Sisca and her husband, Ron, of Philadelphia, PA and Peggy Stevens and her husband, Rick, of Indianola, IA; 2 sons, Jack Piepel and his wife, Ann, of Afton, MN and Michael Piepel and his wife, Dianne, of Jefferson, IA; one sister, Margaret McGlynn of Boone, IA and 10 grandchildren Memorials are suggested to the Greene County Future Farmers
