Mildred I. Britton Mildred Britton, 91, of Lake City, Iowa, died October 11, 2005 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Mrs. Britton has donated her body to Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mildred was born September 1, 1914 at home in Jordan Township, Monona County, Iowa. She was the eldest daughter of Olaf and Edith Braden Ulven. Mildred was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Soldier and graduated from Soldier High School in 1931. In 1934, Mildred and George Martin Britton were united in marriage at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Soldier. They became the parents of four children. Mildred was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for Farmers Elevator Co-op in Martelle, Iowa. Mildred Ulven Britton died October 11, 2005 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa. She was 91 years of age. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; four brothers; her son, Theodore Richard Britton in 1940, her husband George Britton, Sr in 1982, son-in-law Jack Uddberg in 1992, and a great-granddaughter, Marina Alvarez in 1999. Mildred is survived by two daughters Karen (Richard) Pound of Jefferson, IA; and Ann Kristine Uddberg of Murray, KY; a son, George Martin Britton (Mary) of Moline, IL; five grandchildren: Mary (Carlos) Alvarez of Pearland, TX; Melinda (Kenneth) Gallagher of Jefferson, IA; Ellen Uddberg of NYC; Emily (Rich) Boehm of Phoenix, AZ; and Martin Britton of Ft. Collins, CO; six great-grandchildren: Ryan and Austin Alvarez; and Alison, Britton, Braden, and Brenner Gallagher; and a sister, Doris Stoffregen of Lake View. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. She also was a long-time member of the DAR and Order of Eastern Star. A gift of life in death, Mildred donated her body for research to Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport. Memorial services will be held at a later date with interment at Soldier Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery. |
