Funeral services for Margaret Mary Lyons, 83, of Jefferson, will
be 10:00 am Thursday July 7, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Jefferson. Interment will be at Willow Twp. Cemetery in Greene
County.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson
after 2:00 pm Wednesday. There will be a 7:00 pm Vigil for the
Deceased at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, followed
by visitation with the family until 9:00 pm.
Margaret Mary Lyons was born on a farm south of Scranton, IA
on December 23, 1921 in Jackson Township, Greene County, Iowa.
She was the daughter of Daniel Joseph Healy and Loretta Hennessey
Healy.
Margaret Mary attended grade school at Jackson #9, then graduated
from Jefferson High school in 1938.
Early in her life, Margaret Mary worked at Triple A in Jefferson.
She also worked at the War Production Board in Washington, DC,
and then worked at a bomber plant in Omaha, NE.
Margaret Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Leo “Ike”
Lyons, Jr. on June 5, 1945 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church
in Scranton. They were the parents of four children.
Margaret Mary was a CNA at the Greene County Medical Center and
retired after 20 years. She was a Member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Jefferson, and belonged to the Guild. She was a past
member of Ladene Club.
Margaret Mary Lyons died July 3, 2005 at the Greene County Medical
Center. She was 83 years of age. Preceding her in death were her
parents, her husband, Ike, who died in 1988; an infant daughter
Janet; a daughter-in-law, Joanie Lyons; an infant brother, Daniel
Healy, a brother Jack Healy, and a nephew, Denny Healy.
Survivors include two daughters: Janice Welker of Jefferson,
IA; Connie Hoyt and her husband Dennis of Quincy, IL; a son, Pat
Lyons of Littleton, CO; five grandchildren: Brad Hoyt and his
wife Nikki, and Mark Hoyt, all of Quincy, IL; Shannon Farlow and
her husband Scott of Cedar Falls, IA; Casey Lyons and Megan Lyons,
both of Littleton, CO; five great-grandchildren: Emma, Ellie and
Easton Hoyt and Sydnie and Jacob Hoyt; and a sister, Patsy Monthei
and her husband Wayne of Jefferson, IA.
Also surviving are Godchildren: Tim Watts, Tim Healy, Pam Chesler,
and Muriel Lehman; sisters-in-law Nellie Watts of Panora, IA and
Kay Lyons of Bayard, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives
and friends.
