Funeral services for Norma Jackson, 88, of Jefferson, will be
10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 13, 2005 at First United Methodist
Church, Jefferson. Interment will be at the Jefferson Cemetery.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson
after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. The family will greet friends at the
funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Norma Margaret Sanderson Jackson was born January 8, 1917 in
Jefferson, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earnest Sanderson and
Maude Peacock Sanderson.
Norma attended country school, then graduated from Jefferson
High School in 1934. On August 7, 1938, Norma marred John M. Jackson.
They lived all their married life in Jefferson. Norma loved to
work in the garden, and cook.
In 1962, Norma started working at the Jefferson School lunch
program. She retired after 27 years. Norma loved to attend her
grandchildren’s events and other sporting events.
Norma was an active member of First United Methodist Church in
Jefferson. She belonged to the United Methodist Women.
Norma Jackson died April 7, 2005 at the Greene County Medical
Center. She was 88 years of age.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a brother,
Earnest Sanderson; a sister, Vava Berry; a son-in-law, Tom Miller;
sisters-in-law: Vava Nathe, Millie Turpen, Vivian Lawton, June
Jackson and Nina Jackson; and brother-in-law Darwin Jackson.
Survivors include two daughters: Karen Clopton and Linda Miller,
both of Jefferson, IA; three sons: Jon Jackson of Carroll, IA
and Larry Jackson and Lonnie Jackson, both of Mesa, AZ; two sisters:
Doris Robinson and Sandy Richardson, both of Jefferson, IA; sister-in-law
Pauline Hougham of Perry, IA; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren;
and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
