Funeral services for Dick Rogers, 78, of Jefferson, will be 10:30
am Friday February 18, 2005 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home,
Jefferson. Interment will be at the Jefferson Cemetery.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson
after 12 noon Thursday. The family will be present at the funeral
home to greet friends at 6:30 pm Thursday. A Masonic Service will
be held at 7:00 pm Thursday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home,
Jefferson, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm.
Richard W. Rogers was born December 30, 1926 at Jefferson, Iowa.
He was the son of Art Rogers and Gladys “Dolly” Magill
Rogers.
Dick graduated from Dana High School in 1946. He married Jean
Potter on February 6, 1949 at the home of the bride’s parents
at Jefferson, Iowa. To this union, three daughters were born.
Dick farmed for 12 years near Dana. The family moved into Grand
Junction in 1960. Dick worked for Percival Manufacturing Company
in Boone, Iowa for 31 years, retiring in 1989.
Dick was a long-time member of the Methodist Church.
He belonged to Odd Fellow Lodge #308 in Grand Junction, the Masonic
Lodge, and the Elks Lodge #2306 in Jefferson. He served on the
Grand Junction city council.
Dick Rogers died February 15, 2005 at the Greene County Medical
Center. He was 78 years of age. Preceding him in death were his
parents and a brother, Robert Rogers; and a son-in-law John Wauson.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Rogers of Jefferson; three
daughters: Janice Wauson of Urbandale; Linda Smith and her husband
Steve of Jefferson; and Cynthia Grosing and her husband Bob of
Urbandale; five grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one brother,
Tom Rogers of Carroll, IA; one sister, Sally Clanton of Pattonville,
Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Masonic service was held Thursday evening at Slininger-Rossow
Funeral Home, with Doug Tucker presiding.
