Sandy Richardson of Jefferson passed away Tuesday, December 27th at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  Sandy, daughter of E.J. and Maude Sanderson, was born on November 20, 1921, on a farm in Greene County.  She graduated from Jefferson High School. She married Keith Richardson in 1944 on Christmas Eve while he was serving in the Air Force in California.  They were married 44 years and were the parents of four sons: Keith, Nick, Mike, and Bill.

The family enjoyed many summers at their cabin at Twin Lakes swimming, boating, and eating Grandma’s special treats.  Sandy’s other joys were playing bridge and having coffee with friends.  She was a 50-year member of Beta Tau Delta Sorority. Other than family, her greatest joy was attending or watching Iowa Hawkeye games.  The grandchildren learned at an early age not to call or bother Grandma during a game!  She was proud of the fact that they all grew up to be Hawkeye fans!

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Judge Keith Richardson in 1988, sisters Norma Jackson and Vava Berry, brother Earnie Sanderson, and a brother, Harold, who died in infancy.

She is survived by her children her children Keith and Vicki of West Des Moines and their sons David and Ben; Nick and Sue of Jefferson and their sons Nate, Josh, and Jared; Mike of Lahaina, HI and his daughter Amber; Bill and Julie of Jefferson and his children Billy and Brittany; and one great-grandson, Aiden.  She is also survived by one sister, Doris Robinson of Jefferson.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or Webb House.
