Services for Vernet Bohlmann, 81, of Jefferson, will be 10:30
a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, rural
Charter Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson,
Iowa after 1:00 p.m. Thursday. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Thursday
Prayer Service, followed by visitation with the family until 8:30
pm. at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson.
Vernet Bohlmann was born December 24, 1923 at Soldier Township,
Charter Oak, Iowa. She was the only child of Emil and Martha Goerner
Seils.
Vernet was confirmed at St. John Church in Charter Oak in 1938.
She attended Charter Oak Lutheran grade school and graduated
from Charter Oak High School in 1942. Vernet taught country school
for a year, then worked two years for Northwestern Bell Telephone
Company in Sioux City.
On April 1, 1945, Vernet was united in marriage to Victor Bohlmann.
The couple started farming in 1946, and farmed for 17 years. In
1964, Vernet and Vic moved to Charter Oak and Vic became a rural
letter carrier. In 1972 they moved to Jefferson, Iowa where Vic
continued carrying mail, and Vernet worked in the laundry department
for the Jefferson Manor for 12 years. She retired in 1984.
Vernet was a loving and caring wife and mother. She liked to
travel, and for over 20 year, she especially enjoyed their trailer
home on Spirit Lake.
Vernet Bohlmann died March 7, 2005 at the Greene County Medical
Center, Jefferson, Iowa. She was 81 years of age. Preceding her
in death were her parents; a grandson, Troy Meseck; and three
brothers-in-law: Al Rahn, Ralph Bohlmann, and Truman Ault.
Survivors include her husband, Victor Bohlmann of Jefferson,
IA; three sons: Dennis of Naples, Florida; Richard and his wife
Jeanine of Clearmont, WY; and Scott and his wife Rocio of Livermore,
CA; a daughter, Vickie Meseck and her husband Gailen of Charter
Oak, IA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law
(Victor’s sisters) Stella Rahn of Denison, IA; Leola Ault
of Richfield, MN; and LaVerene Bohlmann of Denison, IA; Brothers-in-law
(Victor’s brothers and their wives) Ed and Leonora Bohlmann
of Onawa, IA and Orville and Clara Bohlmann of Denison, IA.
