Avon Bernice Linduska, daughter of Gilbert and Minnie Ingebritson, was born on July 9, 1919 on farm near Dows, Iowa, and died on December 31, 2006 at the age of 87.

Avon was raised on her family's farm near Dows with three brothers and one sister. Avon married Frank Linduska in 1946. After a short time living in Dows, they established their permanent residence in Jefferson in 1948.

Avon was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years on August 19, 1979; and brothers Arthur, Julian, and Wilbur, and sister Mamie.

She is survived by two sons, Paul and his wife Sandy of Chesterfield, Virginia; and Steve and his wife Kim of Ames; and six grandchildren: Paul, Phillip, Stacey, Angela, Katelyn, and Joe.

Avon's greatest joy was in creating a comfortable and loving home for her family and their friends. She was the consummate homemaker (evidenced by emerging as one of the few pure Norwegians to become proficient in the Czech cuisine). During Frank's long coaching career, Avon cheerfully welcomed countless coaches and athletes into their home, and treated them all like family members. Always at Frank's side, Avon was an enthusiastic participant in all Jefferson school activities. She was an active member in the Methodist Church.  She served on many boards in the Jefferson community, supported countless community activities, and worked for many years at Royal Jewelers.  She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with her family and friends.

She will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and friend who was always kind and gracious to everyone, and who gave unselfishly of her time and energy. Her family and friends will miss her wicked sense of humor, and her ability to raise anyone's spirits with a smile and a hug.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Frank Linduska Scholarship at Jefferson Scranton Community Schools.
