Graveside services for Belva Hartman, 94, of Urbandale, will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday March 23, 2006 at Junction Twp. Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa.  Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson between 9:00am - 12:30pm Thursday prior to the graveside service.

Belva Hollis Hartman was born January 11, 1912 in Bellflower Township, McLean County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Harley Padgett and Susan Cooper Padgett.

Belva’s family moved to Grand Junction, Iowa in 1918. Belva graduated from Grand Junction High School and taught rural school in Greene County for one year.

On December 3, 1930, Belva married George T. Hartman at Yetter, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm near Grand Junction, Iowa for several years.

In 1939, the Hartman family moved to Saybrook, Illinois. They returned to Iowa in 1942, and lived and farmed near Nevada, Iowa until 1948. They continued to live in Nevada where Belva worked at Donnelly’s Corporation.

In later years, Belva moved to Des Moines where she resided until her death on March 20, 2006. She was 94 years of age.

Belva Hartman was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and one brother; her husband who died in 1990; and a daughter, Pat Richardson, who died in 2002.

Surviving is one son, Phil Hartman and his wife Joanne of Urbandale, Iowa; two granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
