C. Dean Murphy Memorial services for C. Dean Murphy, 79, of Jefferson, Iowa will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 4, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson. No family visitation is planned. Charles Dean Murphy was born October 30, 1927 in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Allen and LaVon Murphy. Dean graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Marine Corps. On October 14, 1950, Dean married Lois Jean Anderson. In December 1950 Dean was recalled to active duty in Korea. Over the next 14 years, Dean traveled doing line construction and contracting. During this time Dean and Lois had five boys, Nicholas, Jack, Scott, Marty, and Pat. Dean retired from the Greene County Rural Electric Company in 1989, and continued farming until 1993. During their 56 years of marriage, they enjoyed raising cattle, dancing, snowmobiling, golfing, traveling South during the winter, and anything involving their children and grandchildren. Dean was a loving husband, devoted dad, and loved spending time talking with family and friends. Dean passed away on November 1, 2006 at the Greene County Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Nicholas, brothers Vernon and Victor. He is survived by his wife Lois of Jefferson; four sons, Jack and his wife Linda of Jefferson, Scott of Carroll, Marty and his wife Michelle of San Antonio, Texas, Pat and his wife Karen of Jefferson, six grandchildren; Nick Murphy and his wife Michelle of Bondurant, Melissa Hagdorn and her husband Paul of Austin, Texas, Mitchell Murphy of Fort Dodge, Matthew Murphy of San Antonio, Texas, Trent and Michael Murphy of Jefferson, and one great-grandson, Mason Murphy of Bondurant. He is survived by his sister Lois Martin and her husband Bob of Perry, sister-in-law Doris Murphy of Springdale, Arkansas, sister-in-law Norma Anderson of Elk River, Minnesota, two nieces and four nephews. He leaves behind many friends and family, and he will be deeply missed. |
