Dennis Allen Fogarty

Dennis Allen Fogarty, son of Louise Allen and Joseph Fogarty, was born on February 25, 1942, in Jefferson, IA.  Dennis attended school in Dana and Grand Junction, and graduated from high school in 1960.   

Dennis married Bonnie Murphy in 1961 at the Church of Christ in Jefferson, IA.  The couple spent the majority of their married life in Grand Junction.

Dennis worked at Spring Lake during the first part of his married life, National Manufacturing and Stamping Company, Ideal Manufacturing for several years, and for more than 25 years worked at Chicago Rivet in Jefferson. Dennis was assistant plant manager at Chicago Rivet for the past several years. He also owned and operated the Fogarty family century farm in Grand Junction, taking care of chickens, geese, ducks, cattle, and any cat that would stray onto the farm.

Dennis had recently finished building a garage at home in town and enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends, working in the garage. He also enjoyed spending as much time as possible on the family farm, tinkering around in the sheds, keeping track of his cattle, and taking care of his huge garden. Dennis enjoyed planting a big garden and sharing his plantings with family and friends.

Dennis and his wife, Bonnie, were lucky enough to have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary, on March 14.

Dennis Fogarty died at his home on March 15, 2006, at the age of 64 years. Preceding him in death were his mother and father, Joseph and Louise Fogarty; a brother, Jackie Fogarty; an uncle, John Allen, and aunt, Gayle Allen.

Dennis Fogarty is survived by his wife Bonnie Fogarty, of Grand Junction; five daughters and their families: Julie and her husband, Raymond Gunn, of Grand Junction; their children Jayson Gunn, Jaymie Gunn and Shon Reece, and Jayleen Gunn; a great-granddaughter, Jannessa Reece; Janet and her husband, Tom Witt, of Fort Dodge, their children Stephanie, Stephen, and Austin Baugh; Joni and her husband, Chuck Biggart, of Des Moines, and their children, Justin and Mackenzie; Jacquie and her husband, Jim Holmes, of Idaho, and children, Foster and Jake White, Casey and Derek Holmes; and Jeri and her husband, Shawn Angell, and their daughter, Kylie, of Grand Junction; and a sister, Jolene King and her husband, Kenny, of Creston; and a nephew, Jeffrey King; many, many friends and relatives.
