Funeral services for Donna Millard, 79, of Jefferson, Iowa will be 10:30 am Monday November 6, 2006 at the Community of Christ Church, Jefferson, IA, with interment at 3:30 pm at the Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM- 9:00 PM Sunday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, with family present to greet friends from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Jefferson Public Library, Jefferson, Iowa.

Donna Ruth Bolie was born November 2, 1926 in Silverton, Oregon to Christian and Ruth Wilson Bolie. Donna was the youngest of eight children, the only daughter, and one of three sets of twins. When Donna was two years old, the family moved to Burt, Iowa. Donna graduated from Burt High School in 1944. After attending Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and beauty school in Idaho, Donna graduated from Fort Dodge Beauty Academy in 1949. Donna worked in different hair salons until owning her own, The Beauty Nook, in Burt.

Donna was united in marriage to Marreld Millard on September 4, 1955 in Mallard, Iowa. Marreld and Donna made their home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa until 1966 when they moved to Jefferson. To this union were born four children, two daughters and twin sons.

Donna worked at White Laundry and Dry Cleaning and the Jefferson Manor before retiring in 1985. Donna’s interests included sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, dogs, and reading. Donna was an active member of the Community of Christ church since her baptism in 1948.

Donna died November 1, 2006 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She was 79 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Marreld in 1992; infant son Randall in 1958; three brothers: one in infancy, Faye Bolie, and Weldon Bolie; sister-in-law Earleen Bolie; great-niece Sarah Bolie; great-nephew Samuel Thorndike; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Loren and Norma Millard.

Donna is survived by her daughters Marilyn and Jane of Jefferson; son Russell and wife Gayle of Davenport; grandchildren Robert and Sara of Davenport; four brothers and their families: Kenneth (Rose) Bolie of Lamoni, IA; Victor Wayne Bolie of Albuquerque, NM; Paul (Shirley) Bolie of Brea, CA; and twin David (Ruth) Bolie of Thompson, IA; two sisters-in-law: Violet Bolie of Orange City, IA and Mary Jean Bolie of Cherokee, IA; brother-in-law Creighton (Beula) Millard of Storm Lake, IA and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
