John Elliott
John William Elliott was born November 19, 1918 in Emmet County to Floyd and Flora (Buswell) Elliott. John attended school in Jefferson. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and was stationed in the Philippines until his honorable discharge in 1945. John and Nedra Beaty were married June 7, 1942 in Bethany, MO. They made their home in Jefferson, Iowa until moving to Story City, IA in 2003. John worked as a groundman (special) for Midland Power Cooperative for 57 years. John passed away October 18, 2006 at Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nedra; one sister, Marguerite Cavallier; and four brothers: Robert, John, Donald, and Eugene. Survivors include two daughters: Sheryl (Leonard) Pierce of Bloomington, MN and Connie (Donald) Heim of Ames; five grandchildren: Sean (Jenna) Dowling of Story City; Michael (Annette) Pierce of Wichita Falls, TX; Pamela (George) Saba of Glendale, AZ; Julie (Robert) Cattanach of Ames and Donna (Jamie) Ostrander of Carroll; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty (Darrel) Cory of Boone, Rita (Melvin) Clark of Des Moines; and three brothers: Richard (Margaret) of Boerne, TX; Harold of Jefferson; and Eldon (Shirley) of Fulton, KY. |
