Lewis Mullins
Visitation will start at noon Tuesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. Lewis Benjamin Mullins, son of Benjamin Franklin Mullins and Clara Meyer Mullins, was born on the family farm in Section 9, Dawson Township, Greene County, Iowa, on December 1, 1913. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. Lewis was a 1931 graduate of Paton High School. Lewis married Eva Scott on November 17, 1946 at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. To this union a daughter, Corinne, was born in 1950. The couple spent their married life farming on the farm that Lewis purchased in Section 8 of Dawson Township. They also raised livestock until the early 1990’s. Lewis was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Paton and the Greene County Historical Society. On February 5, 2006, Lewis Mullins died at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. He was 92 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents, Benjamin and Clara Mullins; brothers-in-law, Delbert Scott and Verlin Bauer and sister-in-law, Florence Scott. Survivors include his wife, Eva Mullins, of Paton; daughter, Corinne Bancroft and her husband, Vernon, of Paton; sister, Vera Bauer of Gowrie, brother, Leslie Mullins and his wife, Elva, of Paton and brothers-in-law, Elmer Scott and Elijah Scott and his wife, Hortense, all of California. |
