Funeral services for Lillian Pedersen, 81, of Dana, will be 11:00am Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery.  Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 9:00 am Wednesday.  The family will be present at the funeral home to greet friends between 6:00 -8:00pm Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Iowa Hospice.

Lillian Juanita Pedersen was born September 14, 1924 in rural Carroll County. She was the daughter of Carl and Maude (Howell) Rasmussen. Lillian grew up in farming communities in and around Carroll and Greene Counties. She attended country schools, then high school in Coon Rapids and Jefferson.

On November 28, 1942, Lillian was married to Virgil Pedersen. To this union four children were born: Mary, Kenneth, Jack and Janelle.

Lillian worked beside her husband on the farm near Dana and was most proud of her role as a parent and housewife. She served as a 4-H leader and enjoyed “taking care of everything”.

Lillian and Virgil spent many winters in Harlington, Texas and also enjoyed traveling, antiques, and collecting “Things”. She also loved to spend time with her family.

Lillian Pedersen died July 3, 2006 at her home in Dana after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman Rasmussen; an infant brother, Phillip; two infant sisters, Helga Ellen and Mary Ann; and her son-in-law, Red Buchman.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Pedersen of Dana, IA; two daughters: Mary Buchman of Gilbert, IA and Jan Schmitt and her husband Bill of Alleman, IA; two sons: Ken Pedersen and his wife Linda of Jefferson, IA; and Jack Pedersen of Dana, IA; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jim (Hazel) Rasmussen of Jefferson, IA; Dale (Helen) Rasmussen of Omaha, NE; and Richard (Shirley) Rasmussen of Lone Rock, WI; sister-in-law Mignon Rasmussen of Jefferson; other relatives and friends.
