Services for Marjorie Young, 88, formerly of Grand Junction, IA, will be 11:00 am Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Grand Junction, with interment at Junction Twp Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Grand Junction after 2:00 pm Thursday where the family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8:00 pm.

Marjorie Eileen Young was born October 25, 1917 in Angus, Iowa to Clinton and Margaret (Mulder) Riggen.  She graduated from Madrid High School and was united in marriage to John (Bud) Young on August 14, 1935.  The couple made their home in Grand Junction, Iowa.

Marjorie worked in the local grocery store and enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and bowling.  Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.  She was a member of Eastern Star, American Legion, El Carim, Business Women’s Club, Bridge Club and the First Presbyterian Church.  Over the years, Marjorie did lots of sewing, knitting, and crocheting. 

In 1996, Marjorie moved to Madrid.  On April 25, 2006, she passed away at Madrid Homes in Madrid, Iowa at the age of 88 years.  Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Bud, a brother Fayne Riggen and sisters Bernice Killion, and Dorothy Anderson.

Marjorie is survived by 6 children: Sandra (Dean) Robertson of Bayard; Bill (Mary Ann) Young of Des Moines, Meredith (Don) Egan of Scranton; Andrea (Frank) Schoff of Madrid; Pat (Bill) Sickerson, of Madrid; and Greg Young of Polk City; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
