Funeral services for Ruth Byrns, 79, of Jefferson, will be 1:00 pm Sunday July 9, 2006 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Interment will be in Richland Township Cemetery in Guthire County.

Visitation for Ruth Byrns will be from 6:00 – 7:30pm Saturday July 8 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Memorials are suggested to Long Term Care at Greene County Medical Center.

Ruth Elsie Byrns was born July 29, 1926 in Greene County.  She was the daughter of Clyde Allen Byrns and Cora Viola Dagit Byrns.

Ruth graduated from Cooper High School.  She lived in Greene County her entire life, and lived in Jefferson for 37 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson. 

Ruth was a care giver for her family, doing lots of babysitting for her siblings in their youth, and through the ensuing years she babysat for her nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children.   She provided care for her parents in their later years.

Ruth had a deep affection for nature.  She fed the birds, loved to garden, and planted lots of flowers and trees.  Ruth spent many hours enjoying the outdoors.

Ruth was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful needlework.  Ruth had an attention to detail in every project.

In November 2005, Ruth entered long term care at the Greene County Medical Center.  There she died, July 6, 2006, at the age of 79 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are three sisters: Hazel Frederick of Jefferson, IA, Eleanor Toomey of Dallas, TX, and Judy Larson-Kemble of Jefferson; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
