Funeral services for Robert Christman, 84, of Bayard, Iowa will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 8, 2006 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with burial at a later date in Dodge Township Cemetery, Bagley, Iowa.

Visitation will start at 11:00 AM Friday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, with family present from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Robert Lyle Christman, son of Edward and Maude Stipp Christman, was born on July 26, 1921, in Bagley, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and attended rural school, graduating from Bagley High School.

Robert married Lucille Grassmeier on January 2, 1940, in Guthrie County, IA. The couple farmed near Bagley and later moved to his current residence south of Bayard. He retired in 1986 but continued to farm with his son, Jerry.

In 1986, Robert met Norma Milligan and they had a wonderful relationship until his death.

Robert was a past member of the Bayard United Methodist Church and he had been attending the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.

Bob loved all kinds of animals, especially Woody, Bella and E-2.

Robert Lyle Christman died April 5, 2006 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. He was 84 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Lucille, in 1986 and two brothers.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Christman, Bagley, IA; daughter, Janet VanGundy, Jamaica, IA; sister, Dorothy Klinzman, Des Moines, IA; special friend, Norma Milligan, Jefferson, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
