Robert E. Jaquis died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA.   Bob was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 25, 1922, the son of John Emerson Jaquis and Leta Marie Dillavou Jaquis. 

Bob was raised in Jefferson, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University, before moving to Washington DC. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1947.  He then worked as an aeronautical engineer for the Naval Air Systems Command until his retirement. An active member for 53 years and Deacon Emeritus at National City Christian Church, Bob lived in Fairfax, Virginia for 35 years before moving to Arlington earlier this year.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 1, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa. Robert will be put to rest in the Jefferson Cemetery next to his twin brother John Jaquis who died in 1994. A memorial service will be held at National City Christian Church on Tuesday, December 5, at 1 pm.

Robert (“Uncle Bob”) will be greatly missed by friends and family.  He will always be remembered as a generous, kind, unassuming man whose life was spent in service to others.  He is survived by nephews Bob, Tom, and Bill Jaquis, nieces Jane Knippenberg, Beth Leppert, Becki Schaefer and their families.
