Funeral services for Bob Wilson, 65, of Paton, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson, with interment at Dawson Twp. Cemetery near Paton, IA. 

The family will greet friends at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, where there will also be a 7:00 pm Vigil for the Deceased.

The family will also greet friends at the funeral home Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Memorials in Bob’s name may be sent directly to the family, or may be left at the funeral home.

 

Robert E. Wilson, son of Jesse and Nadine Metzger Wilson, was born on April 7, 1940 in Jefferson, Iowa. He grew up in the Paton area and graduated from Paton High School in 1957.

Bob married Ellen Nahnsen on October 28, 1961. They became the parents of three children, Vicki, Debbie and Rob.

Bob was in the livestock business for 25 years. He drove mail truck for Starco, Inc. for 17 years and retired in June 2005.  Bob loved spending time with his many friends at the sprint car races in Knoxville, Iowa.  He enjoyed camping and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.  Bob’s greatest joy of all was spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob Wilson died January 16, 2006 in Frisco, Texas, while visiting his daughter. He was 65 years of age.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Wilson; brother, Russell Wilson; sister, Victoria Ann, in infancy; sister-in-law, Lois Wilson; grandparents, Harry and Amy Metzger and Than and Stella Wilson; and mother-in-law, Margaret Nahnsen.

Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ellen Wilson of Paton; 2 daughters, Vicki (David) Appleby of Frisco, TX; and Debbie Wilson and her fiancé, Rande Roberts of Webster City and one son, Rob (Heather) Wilson of Lohrville; mother, Nadine Wilson of Jefferson and 6 grandchildren, Annessa and Logan Rexroat of Webster City; Alexa and Chase Appleby of Frisco, TX and Brandon and Derek Wilson of Lohrville.  Also, surviving are 4 brothers, Dick (Judy) Wilson, Rex (Virginia) Wilson, Roger (Dorena) Wilson, all of Paton and Raymond (Jane) Wilson of Farnhamville; and father-in-law, Elmer Nahnsen of Jefferson and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
