William D. Butler Memorial services for Bill Butler,
67, of Jefferson, will be 10:30am Wednesday September 5, 2007 at Slininger-Rossow
Funeral Home in Jefferson. The family will visit with friends at the
funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials in Bill’s
name may be left at the funeral home.
William DeLoss Butler was born January 12, 1940 on a farm near Dana, Iowa. He was the son of Seth and Clara (Quirk) Butler. Bill attended school in Jefferson and lived nearly all his life in Jefferson. He married Anne Bradley on May 24, 1974. Bill’s working career included farming with his family, then farming for many years on his own, and helping Joe and Mike Wolterman on their farm. Bill also worked at the Deep Rock gas station for 13 years, and for 24 years had been superintendent of the Jefferson Water Department. In 2000, Bill retired as Sgt First Class from the Army National Guard after 24 years of service. Most recently, Bill was employed with the Greene County Medical Center. Bill was a 26 year member of Floyd Brown American Legion Post #11. He belonged to the National Guard Retirement, Iowa Rural Water Association and was a State of Iowa DNR Operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his shop restoring tractors, and traveling about doing ghost town hunting. Bill Butler died at his home September 2, 2007 at the age of 67 years. He is survived by his wife, Anne Butler of Jefferson, IA; step-daughter Debra (Mrs. Richard) Molle-Grunsted and grandsons Hunter and Gunnar Grunsted of Panora, IA; one son: Rodney Butler of Scranton, IA; two daughters: Carrie (Mrs. Jim) Taylor of Jefferson, IA and Tracy Delp of Jefferson, IA; grandchildren; four brothers: Richard of Aurora, CO; Don and his wife Mary June of Iowa Falls, IA; Robert and his wife Betty of Lexington, NC; and Steve and his wife Sharon of Hilo, HI; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials in his name may be left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. |
