Clara Wilson Clara Loretta Wilson was born in Wabash, Nebraska in Cass County at the home of her parents, Daniel and Mary Haertel Rueter on May 23, 1913. She attended Grand Prairie Elementary school and graduated from the Alvo High School in 1932. Clara married Carl Voigtman in 1934. They had one son, Ronald Eugene in 1939. The family farmed in the Churdan area 6 years before moving to Jefferson. Carl passed away January 1983 with cancer. Later, Clara married Earl Wilson of Jefferson. Clara was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and was a member of the Martha Circle. Clara belonged to the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Entre Nous Club. She worked at the Jefferson Telephone Company for 22 years, retiring in 1976. Earl and Clara were honored for their efforts as Greene County’s 1996 Outstanding Senior Citizens by the Elderbridge Agency on Aging. They also did volunteer work at Congregate Meals in Jefferson. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Mary Rueter;
two brothers: Elmer and Walter Rueter; and three sisters: Irene
Sundling, Ruth Wall, and Marie Warnecke. Clara is survived by her
husband, Earl, and son Ronald (Kay) Voigtman of Saline, MI. She
was the dear grandmother to four grandchildren: Cindy of Saline,
Jon (Terri) of Summit, NJ, Jane (Kevin) May of Portland, MI and
Christopher (Cyndi) of Ann Arbor, MI. Five great grandchildren are:
Nathan and Annalee Voigtman, Kirby Voigtman, and Chelsea and Hayden
May. Two sisters, Lola Anderson and Leona Black live in California
and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Rueter and Billie Rueter live
in Nebraska. Clara leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear
friends. |
