Funeral services for Ellen M. Johnson, 98, of Jefferson, formerly of the Grand Junction and Scranton areas, will be 10:30am Thursday November 15, 2007 at Scranton Church of Christ, Scranton, Iowa.  Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa.

Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 9:00am Wednesday.  The family will be present at the funeral home to visit with friends between 7:00 - 9:00pm Wednesday, with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm Wednesday.

Ellen M. Johnson completed her work here on earth November 9, 2007.  She was born in Kirksville, Missouri on October 6, 1909 to William O. Williams and Laura Ellen (Gehrke) Williams.

Ellen lived her early, first years in Missouri, then lived the rest of her life in Greene County, Iowa.  She married Edward A. Johnson and they were the parents of one daughter, Laura.

Ellen was a lifetime member of the Scranton Church of Christ.  She was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Rebekahs, the Garden Club, and the Greene County Historical Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband who died in 1982, four sisters: Mary Whitver, Frances Williams, Winnifred Williams, and Ruth Lepke; a brother, William “Buddy” Williams; and a great-grandson, Steven Plager. 

Survivors include daughter Laura McKnight and her husband Robert of Scranton, Iowa; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
