Elmer "Bud"
Lingner Elmer “Bud” Lingner of Ogden, formerly of Grand Junction, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with burial in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Elmer Dwayne Lingner was born October 17, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Iona (Buchmiller) and Herbert Lingner. Elmer attended school in Grand Junction, and then entered the United States Army on January 22, 1951. He fought in the Korean Conflict, where he was injured on Heartbreak Ridge and received the Purple Heart. Elmer married Barb Eckard. The couple lived in Jefferson and then in Ogden. Elmer worked in construction. He enjoyed NASCAR, Boone Speedway Racing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Elmer is survived by his children: Robbie Eckard and his wife Cinda of Boone, IA; Linda Sue Mellinger and her husband Don of Evansville, Indiana; Vicki Perry of Texas City, TX; Terry Lingner and his wife Lisa of Grimes, IA; and Ricky Lingner and his friend Kim of Montgomery, AL; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers Robert (JoAnn) of Perry; Wayne of Osceola, IA; Larry (Liz) of Perry; Jim (Ruth) of Lawrence, KS; Bill (Helen) of Detroit, MI; 4 sisters Betty Tucker of Chattanooga, TN; Fern Waldo and Karen Handsacker of Wichita, KS; and Judy (Lyle) Sinclair of Perry, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. |
