Glen Eldon Miller passed away March 8, 2007, having been blessed with a full life of 94 years.  Born at the family home near Woodbine, Iowa on December 2, 1912, Glen was welcomed into the Miller family by his parents Mike and Nellie along with his older sisters Helen and Nora and later, younger brother Leo.

The Miller family first moved to a farm near Dunlap where Glen attended school before settling in Jefferson, Iowa in 1927.  At this time, Glen’s school days were cut short so he could work on the family farm.

In April, 1942 Glen joined the United States Army and served in France, Germany, Belgium and the Aleutian Islands.  While home on furlough, he married Elsie Minnie Stevens October 22, 1944.  He was honorably discharged from the service November, 1945.

One year later Glen and Elsie moved to the Steven’s family farm and welcomed the birth of their daughter Judith Ann on July 25th, 1948.  Ten years later the family settled on the Miller farm West of Jefferson.

Glen found great satisfaction working the soil, hunting, and fishing. His favorite pastimes were spent walking the timber, listening for the call of “critters” or watching the spring rains rush the creek bed. Known for the meticulous care he gave his farm, buildings, animals and machinery, Glen was even more widely renowned for his quick wit, sense of humor and long list of pranks he played on those he loved.  Glen embraced God’s natural gifts and always managed to find the greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Nellie; wife Elsie (Stevens); second wife Agnes (Austin); sister Helen (Dunivan); brother Leo and is survived by sister Nora Garrity of Jefferson; sister-in- law Vi Miller of Colby, WI; only child Judy and her husband Jim McCaffrey of Minneapolis, MN and grandsons Mike of Boulder, CO and Kevin of Washington D.C.
