Funeral services for Julia Sullivan, 70, of Jefferson, will be 10:30am Thursday July 19, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 8:00am Wednesday. Wednesday evening there will be a 7:00pm Vigil For the Deceased At Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, followed by visitation with the family until 9:00pm.

Julia Kay Sager Sullivan, known to many as Judy, was born December 21, 1936 in Seymour, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ernest Elvin Sager and Esther Opal Darrah Sager.

Julia lived in Seymour and attended school there until age 16. In 1955 her family moved to Bouton, Iowa and Julia started her junior year at Perry High School.

On October 6, 1956, Julia married Charles L. Sullivan at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. They became the parents of 6 children.

In 1973, Julia received her high school diploma thought Iowa Central Community College. She continued her education and became a nurse’s aid, then furthered her education, becoming a medication aide and a Homemaker Home Health Aide.

Julia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. Over the years, Julia has worked at the Jefferson Manor, Cedar Lane Estates, Guthrie County Care Facility, Bayard Care Center and Park View Manor at Woodward. She also did private home care in Jefferson.

Additionally, Julia had worked at Bordenaro’s Market and Deli. In 1993 she started Mrs. Charlie’s Craft Works in Jefferson. In 1995 she worked at Star Light Village in Ames. For several years she has worked at her daughter Maryanne’s Down Home Café in Ralston, Iowa. In 1996 she started working as a security guard at Frigidaire in Jefferson.

Julia Sullivan died July 16, 2007 at the Greene County Medical Center. She was 70 years of age.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Timothy Sullivan and Joseph Sullivan; and 4 brothers: W.H. “Bill” Sager, Norman Sager, Kenneth “Jack” Sager and Elza Sager.

Survivors include her husband Charles Sullivan of Jefferson, IA; 3 daughters: Maryanne Sullivan and companion Kim Jubell of Scranton, IA; Elizabeth “Betty” Sullivan of Yukon, OK; and Nancy (Mrs. Marcus) Taylor of St. John’s New Foundland, Canada; 1 son: Robert Sullivan and his wife Marcie of Jefferson, IA;10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Larry and wife DiAnne Sager of Des Moines, IA and Mark Sager of San Antonio, TX; 1 sister: Janet Thomas of Seymour, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
