Lois Wolf Funeral services for Lois Wolf, 81, of Jefferson, will be 10:30am Tuesday January 16, 2007 at Central Christian Church in Jefferson. Following the funeral service, Lois has donated her body to the University of Iowa Anatomical Gift Program. Future interment will take place at the Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 1:00pm Monday, where the family will greet friends between 6:00 -8:00pm Monday. Memorials are suggested to the Central Christian Church or the American Heart Association. Lois Jean Wolf was born August 15, 1925 in Greene County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leslie Carl Stogsdill and Verna Emlena Michael Stogsdill. Lois graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942. She attended nurses training at St. Anthony’s in Carroll. Lois worked as a dental assistant in Jefferson, first for Dr. Barker, and then for Dr. Baker. On June 9, 1944, Lois was married to David Michael Wolf at the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. The couple lived on a farm north of Jefferson for over 40 years. They raised row crops, did custom farming, and raised livestock. Upon retirement from the farm, they moved into Jefferson. Lois worked nine years at the J.C. Penny Store in Jefferson. Lois was a member of Central Christian Church. She served as a women’s circle leader, a deacon, and in other church capacities. Lois treasured her family and the family’s many activities. In recent years Lois has thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in high school and college activities. Lois was an avid reader. In years past, Lois belonged to a neighborhood club, and a card club. She used to do lots of sewing. Lois and David traveled to all 50 states, and also traveled abroad to England, Ireland, Africa and many European countries, with Switzerland being her favorite. Lois died January 13, 2007 at the Bayard Nursing and Rehab Center in Bayard, Iowa. She was 81 years of age. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herbert Dale Stogsdill who died in infancy, a sister, Georgia Coil; and a son-in-law, DeWayne Nelson. Survivors include her husband, David M. Wolf of Jefferson; two daughters: Jane Nelson of Jefferson, and Nancy Lally and her husband Ted of Bagley; two brothers: Donald Stogsdill of Jefferson and Darrold Stogsdill of Hollywood, CA; a sister, Cleo Gower of Moberly, MO; and four grandchildren: Chris Nelson of Pella, Katie Nelson of Indianola, Laura Nelson of Sioux City, and Mark Nelson of Jefferson. |
