Rosena H. Hollar Memorial services for Rosie Hollar, 88, of Jefferson, will be 10:30am Monday September 10, 2007 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Interment will be in the Richland Township Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 – 8:00pm Sunday September 9th at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Rosena “Rosie” Helen (Kordick) Hollar was born in Bridgewater, Iowa on June 18, 1919, the ninth of eleven children born to Francis “Frank” and Katherine (Kopp) Kordick. On March 17, 1941, she married Gerald LeRoy Hollar in Jefferson, Iowa. Gerald passed away on October 31, 1989. During her early years, Rosie worked as a housekeeper and also in the packing house in Des Moines. Following her marriage, most of her life was spent in the Jamaica and Bagley area, as a farm wife and devoted mother to her two children, Sandy and John. Residents of the Jefferson area will recall the many years that Rosie served as Activity Director at the Jefferson Manor. Rosie loved to visit with people, play cards, sew, do crafts and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, though she always claimed to dislike cooking. She will be remembered by her many friends for her kindness and good-natured sense of humor. Rosena “Rosie” Helen (Kordick) Hollar passed away on September 2, 2007 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She was 88 years of age. Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald “Roy” “Mutt” Hollar; her parents; five brothers, George; Leo “Jack”; Harold “Harry”; Raymond ‘Dutch”; and William “Pete”; and four sisters, Gertrude, Teresa, Veronica and Betty. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Ferrol) Miner of Jefferson; son, John (Carolyn) Hollar of Burr Oak, MI; grandchildren, Shelly (John) Wong of Waynesville, MO; Sheila (Todd) Madson of Jefferson; Jeff (Jody) Miner of Kansas City, MO; Jonathan Hollar of Geneva, Switzerland and Christy (Will) Kozeliski of Superior, CO. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chelsea and Jenna Wong of Waynesville, MO; Mitchell and Ellie Madson of Jefferson and Savannah Miner of Kansas City, MO and one sister, Marjorie Grell of Des Moines, IA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. |
